Story
SWANS ONE is part of a series of 11 works inspired by different Arabic words for love.
Over the past year, I’ve been studying Islam—particularly Sufism—and have come to deeply appreciate the beauty and nuance of the Arabic language and its calligraphy.
This particular piece centers around the word “حبّ” (Hubb), which represents a universal, general kind of love. I used elegant lines and bright, flowing colors to express the essence of that feeling—warm, open, and quietly powerful.
Through this series, I hope to honor the poetic depth of Arabic while offering a visual reflection on love as something universal—something that lives in all cultures, beyond words.
